11 Mar Retail design Expo 2015 – The Event
The retail Design Expo is a new annual event that is focussed on celebrating and promoting greatness in retail design. It’s an event that is coupled with the Retail Business Technology Expo, so there’s a good correlation between footfall for the two events.
We’ve attended RBTE a few years back so we thought we’d go and take a look at what the Retail design Expo had to offer. Yesterday we popped down to the two day event at the Olympia in London to have a look what was going on…
Retail Design Expo – Buzz!
There was a real buzz at the event, keeping both events running well without diluting either of the two, (sometimes a problem when having two events running simultaneously). It was nice to attend an event that celebrates Retail Design as a focus rather than an afterthought (something that a lot of the stands suggested has been missing from the industry for some time).
What stood out?
There were many great ideas being showcased, some great design agencies displaying inventive product ideas and some interesting and inventive companies that were displaying some good products. One company that stood out for us was a Japanese lighting firm Endo LEDZ. They’ve a great LED lighting product, the main benefits being that their lights deliver a reduction in ambient temperature and visually they produce a really nice clean white light, one that is really very complimentary to products on display.
Over on the Rare Basic Stand, they were featuring their patented Magniq system, a nice solution that provides magnetised shelving and opens up a lot of perimeter configuration possibilities for a retail space. They also provide some great Bespoke Mannequin options too, in some cases they say with an impressive two week turnaround.
Another Stand that caught our eye was the Genee World stand. These guys just show how much touch-screen has developed in the last few years, offering a multi user experience and an impressive product. Here’s a little video of them showing the work they did with Mercedes.
Special mention must go to the Information desk staff, they couldn’t be more helpful, the Retail Design Expo was a good event that was well worth a visit. It’s still on today (11th of March) so if you’re in the Capital City it’d be worth a visit.
