Sports Retail event – ISPO – Munich 2015

ISPO – Munich 2015

ISPO-15 Centre Piece

At the beginning of February two of our guys (Rob & Murray) headed out to Munich to see what was happening at the ISPO exhibition. Each year, ISPO attracts more than 2,560 international exhibitors showcasing their latest products from a huge variety of sports sectors including Outdoor, Skiing, Performance Sports and Health & Fitness. ISPO is a truly international sports retail focused event, so we simply had to go again and see what was on display…

What’s the buzz?

Whilst it was a touch cold in Munich, the weather didn’t cool our enthusiasm; it was an impressive show, boasting some inventive retail display/exhibition booth ideas. The show was well attended, possibly helped by the move into a different time slot this year (Thursday to Sunday). This gave the opening of the show a different vibe to those previously with their weekend starts.

Visuals, Displays and Stands:

One of the booths that caught our eye most was LK International’s, their KJUS logo in a slotted natural timber backdrop was a brilliant display touch. The sports clothing brand, Spyder showed some nice work on their stand, using mannequins and floor space to good effect, while the luxury Japanese ski-wear brand Descente used their mannequins in front of an impressive semi-circular LCD wall to really highlight the product and brand buy-in.

This year was the first time we’d noticed Pit Bull West Coast. They left a great impression displaying some interesting ideas that solidify this brands relationship with the cage fighting sports sector (and who’s going to argue with them about that anyway?) we couldn’t help but like the Colmar and GoPro booths again (GoPro’s stand gets bigger every year), with another stand of note by Mizu. Mizu made the most of their booths location on a thoroughfare by encouraging interaction with their sport bottle range. The display’s clean lines, simple lighting and graphics made this a quality stand that got us talking about them as we ‘partied’ at 686’s after show bar.

Conclusion:

ISPO still packs a ‘cage-fighters’ punch with so many of our clients there. Hopefully 2016 will be a little warmer with the new January dates and a return to the Sunday start already in our diaries for 2016.
